Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use OwnBackup for backing up our Salesforce Service Cloud instance as well as archiving and un-archiving the vast amount of emails we receive. This allows us to save on Salesforce storage space by removing emails from the system, while still giving users the ability to quickly pull those records back into Salesforce if needed.

  • Proactive notifications - they let me know if something seems risky

  • Price - it is one of our most expensive third-party applications
  • User adoption - we are still not leveraging all of the OwnBackup features

  • We use this for backing up data for unforeseen contingency.
  • This helps our organization to compare, recover and replicate in case of disaster recovery.

Cons

  • User specific notification configuration can be improved.
  • Generating reports in SAP BW via Salesforce OwnBackup needs additional configuration to minimize the reporting delays.
