  • Very easy interface
  • very fast in completing backups
  • Fast implementation and setup
  • almost self explanatory when setting up
  • the only thing I wish that Veeam would do is the ability to combine all services in one platform. We have another backup solution we use for on prem backups to an offline cloud backup source. I wish Veeam had a solution like this, they are implementing Azure resources for backups currently and store in AWS so there is a separation of where data is stored and is offline with ransomware protection. Maybe one day.

  • uses native Azure snapshots to create image-level backup chains
  • allows for fast backups that reduce the impact on production workloads
  • Veeam Backup for Azure also offers granular recovery options at the file level or entire VM restore
  • We have not runinto any issues other then trying to get lower pricing but we do that with all vendors

  • Reduce storage costs and minimizing the impact on network consuption.
  • Veaam Backup for Azure provides application-aware backups for Microsoft SQL Server, ensuring that our data is backed up and available for recovery correctly.
  • Replication: Veeam Backup for Azure helps us to replicate our workloads to another Azure region or on-premises environment for disaster recovery purposes and compliance needs.
  • Better documentation about permissions on Azure. It was a bit confusing to find a god documentation about it.
  • There are some Azure features that has no support on Veeam Backup for Azure.
  • Make the azure client integrated into Veeam Backup and Replication to use just a simple console to operate.

  • Once set-up there isn't much ongoing configuration required
  • Cost estimates that update as the backup options are changed
  • Ability to restore VHDs to allow recovery scenarios outside of Azure
  • Documentation around service account permissions was a little sparse when we implemented it
  • It's sometimes hard to get the reason behind a (rare) job failure without going into logs
  • The UI around snapshots and backups could do with some clarity around the restore points that will be available

  • It's very reliable, once its setup it continues to run without issue.
  • It's relatively easy to setup, and doesn't need constant tweaking.
  • I can use it on all my workloads, I'm not limited to just VMs.
  • It's still very clunky compared to the older on-prem solution which was very slick.
  • You have to pay for the service and also the storage of the backups, meaning it's not so easy to calculate costs.
  • It's very easy to overspec your backups by having them too often or keeping them for too long meaning you and run into high storage costs.
