As you probably can relate to, I am struggling with students to read the chapters. WileyPLUS has helped me a lot in getting closer to my goal of getting students to read the assigned chapters by making WileyPLUS’ adaptive practices part of the grade. The adaptive practices WileyPLUS developed are unique and set themselves apart from other publishers. If students try to attempt to complete the questions found in adaptive practices without reading the corresponding chapters, they will have a hard time receiving the full credit. A student who is well prepared when starting the adaptive practices will be able to identify the concepts they are still struggling with and which concepts they have mastered. In contrast, a student who is struggling with a particular concept may be prompted to review and answer questions related to earlier concepts relevant to the current concepts. For example, a student struggling with the physiological changes related to stress may be prompted to review concepts first introduced in the biology chapter to ensure that they have mastered the concept.

Pros and Cons
  • Quality content - the materials were developed by faculty who have lots of experience in the field. Several of their textbooks have a data analytics component which is very helpful for our students.
  • Great customer support - representatives from Wiley are very good at returning emails and they are very attentive to any needs that we have for their products.
  • Good value - I believe their textbooks along with their learning supplements provide very good value for faculty and our students.

It's a good platform that has some very good content. We use Canvas as our learning management platform. It is nice to be able to integrate some of the pre-build WileyPLUS course modules into our Canvas course. Other publishers are good too and they sync with Canvas, but I find Wiley's Canvas modules easy to use and customize.

With the help of WileyPLUS, instructors can prepare the teaching efficiently using pre-build Power Point Slides and solutions, and set up homework assignment and exams from abundant resources. Students can also have interactive learning by using adaptive practices. Wiley also provides up-to-date materials and problem-solving videos for students to learn effectively.

For example, auto-graded assignments where students get immediate feedback, the Orion Adaptive Practice allows students to practice based on their individual needs, and it integrates nicely into Canvas which I use extensively for teaching.

  • Allows you to monitor student progress so you can catch struggling students early
Likelihood to Recommend
It is great for scenarios where you have a diverse group of students. In my case, I teach high school students, traditional college students, and non-traditional students. It's nice that it fits a broad spectrum of students. Also, it does well meeting the needs of students with most disabilities. It is probably less appropriate for instructors that don't use Canvas or other learning management tools for teaching, or those teachers who are not flexible and/or care about their student's success.

WileyPLUS is the online book and homework system for my course. I have been very happy with the integration with canvas which saves time and keeps grades automatically updated. The e-text displays through VitalSource so students can highlight and make flashcards out of the text. There are supportive topical videos, interactives, and multimedia support for course topics. I teach organic chemistry, so I really appreciate the mechanism and synthesis explorer questions that can be pooled! They make improvements often and are responsive to feedback. They have adaptive assignments that you can define by the sections of text covered (content-adaptive). There are a few errors in the homework questions and some questions are too broad leaving students guessing what format they should use for the answer. I would recommend WileyPLUS!

  • Customer service! Whenever I have trouble, they are quick to help!
  • The conversational tone of the text is easily understood by students and the drawings/visuals are excellent!
  • Integration with canvas makes grading the online homework effortless!
Likelihood to Recommend
I have 450 students, so I couldn't grade homework for that many students and give feedback if that is all I did all day! It is great for large courses and encourages interaction with the material! The integration with canvas is essential for extra-large courses - I would never go back now! Really, whether you have 20 or 450 it gives students an opportunity to work through the material with fast feedback which aids in learning the material.

WileyPlus helps me grade students' work with auto-grading. It gives the students immediate feedback that I could not provide. Wiley Plus provides many tools for my students, such as the etext, videos, flashcards, audio text, and more videos. I really like the Adaptive Assignment, because it helps the students see their weak points.

We use WileyPlus for many different accounting classes in the business department. It is an intuitive online platform that includes the student's books, interactive tutorials, homework, videos, CPA exam preparation questions, etc. It integrates well with our LMS but also has an excellent standalone login. Their customer support for both instructors and students is responsive and takes the burden off the instructor to figure out why something won't work.

Likelihood to Recommend
It is well suited for students who have access to the internet and technology. During the pandemic some students home internet hasn't been great and they can't use it. That isn't a fault of WileyPlus, just an unfortunate reality of our current situation. It is well suited to online classes though with many resources for students to learn on their own and for instructors to assign.

WileyPLUS is currently used in my department as a source of course material and also for assessment. It has helped with the uniformity across sections taught by different instructors and with the current situation of teaching remote, it has been useful for testing students.
Pros and Cons
  • Quality of the content it provides for our students.
  • Quick customer service response.
  • Easy to use platform and easy to integrate into LMS being used.
Likelihood to Recommend
WileyPLUS is suited for an online course offering. It has all the capabilities needed for an online course—quality and detailed content, short videos based on content, and video illustrations, and problem-solving techniques (chalkboard problems). Finally, it also gives an instructor the flexibility to add/remove materials one does not require for a particular course.

It is being used in all sections of our Accounting for Managers, Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, and Intermediate Accounting I & II. We use it to help students learn the content, complete homework, quizzing, and exams (not used in all sections for exams.)

I use it in the various computer science courses as a tool for adaptive learning. It's been a fantastic tool so far and well worth exploring further as they take faculty input and add it to their platform. It helps build content and courses a lot more efficiently than depending on faculty to build them out themselves.

For any course that has a WileyPLUS counterpart especially in online education, it's well worth exploring further. It's easily one of the best tools when comparing similar options from other publishers.

All sections of our course Stat 200 rely on WileyPLUS embedded in Canvas for our eTextbook, practice problems, graded homework assignments, and adaptive practice.
Pros and Cons
  • eTextbook is accommodating and has interactive features to benefit learning.
  • Policies control on assignments is exactly what we want to control.
  • Adaptive Practice allows students to have content issues identified and remedied effectively.
Likelihood to Recommend
This is difficult to assess because it is based on textbook availability. If your textbook is available in WileyPLUS, then I'd give a green light if all the features are available with that textbook. Otherwise yellow with caution.

WileyPLUS is used for online teaching, homework, and assessment in the School of Business in multiple courses. Students purchase the product and instructors design the assignments, quizzes, and exams. A course eBook is also included when students purchase WileyPLUS, which often saves students a lot of money, as they don't have to purchase a text separately. WileyPLUS is also used in other departments and schools within the university. It comes with a huge question bank for homework and exams. It also has a very strong adaptive practice tool, which provides individual student-focused "drilling" and assessment. Of course it has a grade book too.

Likelihood to Recommend
WileyPLUS is paired with a textbook in all cases I know. In the cases where I have seen the pairing, WileyPLUS works splendidly. If your chosen text does not come with the product, then Wiley does not see a "fit" or it is yet to come. I have not seen a text yet in my field of instruction where WileyPLUS is not a great companion. I teach in an area where weekly homework and frequent assessment is common and can be easily machine graded. Courses where essay or composition questions dominate homework or assessment would not necessarily be a great fit for WileyPLUS.
