Product Details

What is Xero?

Xero is an online accounting software platform for small businesses and their advisors, as well as for personal finance. Xero competes most often with QuickBooks Online. Its features, beyond the ubiquitous general ledger and double-entry bookkeeping support, include invoicing with quotes, bank reconciliation, purchase order and expense management, tax management, and it is mobile-accessible. Xero integrates with over 800 third-party applications, covering everything from inventory and logistics to cash flow, project management, customer relationship management, and e-commerce.

The product is sold by subscription (a distribution model commonly known as software as a service or SaaS) requiring the payment of a monthly fee. This charge is proportionate to the number (and type) of company entities managed by the subscriber. The lowest tiered pricing option is the $9 per month Starter pack, which supports unlimited users but a limited number of transactions. The $30 Standard pack breaks open usage limits and adds e-filing and payroll options. The $70 Premium package doubles the number of supported employees on payroll from 5 to 10, and supports multiple currencies.

Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

It was so easy to integrate Xero with quite a number of other products and the best part was how compatible they all were. This integration for example with products we use to manage our projects allows us to have an easy way to budget for projects and track their expenditure to ensure they are within the allocated budget.

It's kind of hard to find a way to integrate it with unsupported apps as you have to find a 3rd party app to have them both integrated. But it greatly and easily works well with Salesforce CRM! Trying it out with Zendesk so we can get to have a customer-facing experience in the future.

The integration with Stripe was easy to set up but it was not easy to understand the data that we were seeing and how to reconcile. After logging a case with Xero and speaking with one of their experts (several times), everything is now squared away but there was no way we would have been able to work that out on our own - and watching the videos did not help.

We've integrated Xero with our ticketing system to make billing easier. It was relatively easy to set up. The only part I can't seem to figure out is client syncing between the two systems. I can do it manually, but it doesn't want to auto-sync as advertised.

We have integrated many third-party apps with Xero for us internally and clients as well. I chose an 8 as there can always be issues with integration, but I like that Xero does let me choose the integration of the COA. I would like to see the option of coding to expense or COGS accounts and not only income accounts.

I rate Xero 7/10 for ease of integration because, while it offers a plethora of integration opportunities, there's room for improvement. In my experience, none of the integrations, whether for websites or stock, have been straightforward. The complexity and glitches often require professional assistance, making the process less user-friendly. While I appreciate the ability to integrate with crucial applications, I believe Xero's developers need to streamline and enhance the integration process to ensure it's more straightforward and successful for clients on an ongoing basis.

I've integrated xero with a number of applications including WooCommerce and Shopify and have always found the process to be straight forward and simple. Additionally there is usually helpful information on the support pages that provide a step by step guide to the implementation. For this reason, I can't see any significant ways the process could be improved.

I have not integrated Xero with any other products so I cannot answer.

Even though this question instructs me to skip it, I cannot submit a blank answer without fifty words, so here are some words in so that it allows for the answering of the question. Three more words.

I can't think of a product that integrates better. Integration is always a challenge but, again, the transparency of the system, the ability to trace the underlying logic, make integration about as smooth as it can be. I've mostly integrated payroll systems and receipt capture apps, which aren't that sophisticated, but it works. Oh, and their Stripe feed integration is great.

integrates very well with most mainstream banking systems. The payroll side of the system auto submits our data to the hmrc and our pension provider making things super simple. It also handles the VAT really neatly needing us to simply check and submit each quarter. We're also integrated with Cashflow Frog which allow us to forcast cashflow based on our Xero data and potential scenarios.
