Product Details

What is Xero?

Xero is an online accounting software platform for small businesses and their advisors, as well as for personal finance. Xero competes most often with QuickBooks Online. Its features, beyond the ubiquitous general ledger and double-entry bookkeeping support, include invoicing with quotes, bank reconciliation, purchase order and expense management, tax management, and it is mobile-accessible. Xero integrates with over 800 third-party applications, covering everything from inventory and logistics to cash flow, project management, customer relationship management, and e-commerce.

The product is sold by subscription (a distribution model commonly known as software as a service or SaaS) requiring the payment of a monthly fee. This charge is proportionate to the number (and type) of company entities managed by the subscriber. The lowest tiered pricing option is the $9 per month Starter pack, which supports unlimited users but a limited number of transactions. The $30 Standard pack breaks open usage limits and adds e-filing and payroll options. The $70 Premium package doubles the number of supported employees on payroll from 5 to 10, and supports multiple currencies.

Xero Cloud: This feature has saved money in storage costs, and given an extra level of backup should my offline storage facilities become damaged. I have used Xero's cloud to store clients documents and link them to the relevant transactions. Clients also email their documents directly to the designated email address and I am notified that the document has been sent.

Being able to implement Xero in cloud saved us alot on the our implementation expenditure since we did not have to purchase extra softwares or hardwares as it would have been the case with an on- premise implementation. It also gives us flexibility in that we can access it from anywhere on any device.

You can always pick up where you left off even if you use other devices as long as you have your account access. You can work and access Xero anytime you want and anywhere you are! This is one of Xero's feature that we appreciate the most since we are now working in a remote-setup environment.

I looked for software that was made in the Cloud and found Xero. This software has been a game changer for our clients and our business. Xero requires a bookkeeper and an accountant to work with their clients and I appreciate that Xero has made us a partner with their clients that use Xero.

Overhead costs have not been impacted but the ability to share our account with our financial advisors and accountant has been valuable. Giving them direct access has eliminated the need to download and email reports.

It's nice that you can access Xero from anywhere. Aside from Xero outages/planned updates, which thankfully are rare, there is no down time. It's a stark contrast to on prem solutions I have used that have frequent updates that keep you from being able to get your work done. Also, our workforce is hybrid, and being able to access everything from home is a game changer.

There are no upfront or hosting costs and this also means the software is available at any time, any where on any device. There is also sufficient security to allow you to feel (and for it to be) safe, as there are two factor logins on any new devices. Again for easy you can allow common devices for 30 days to speed up the login process.

Xero has significantly contributed to cost savings and improved accessibility in my organization by aiding clients in understanding their financial data, overseeing income and expenses more effectively, and ensuring accurate and timely employee payments. Moreover, the cloud deployment of Xero enables seamless access to crucial figures, facilitating better support and guidance as their business development and growth mentor. This not only enhances business flourishing but also helps in keeping costs under control.

It is accessible anywhere, the cloud deployment has security built in. With this product, your need for a full IT team to keep it running is almost non-existent. One person could be responsible for the security of access rights and ensuring that no one has too much (or conflicting) access.

This software is more expensive than what I replaced it with; so it has increased my overhead costs. The time it takes to do the bookkeeping day to day is in-line with other softwares I have used. It being cloud based has not affected my overhead costs in any significant manner.

Using the cloud has meant more flexibility and improved access for the accounts team. Covid saw the organization move away from fixed locations with a fully remote workforce, working in the cloud meant there were no limitations on different teams and access from multiple locations.

We've saved days of effort each month since implementing Xero. We now have a part time book keeper, vs a full time one when the business was smaller. Xero makes reconciliation a cinch, connects to our bank beautifully to pull all transactions. The repeat invoice functionality helps us to further save time especially as we're connected to GoCardless so the funds are drawn too.
