We use ZipRecruiter to post our active job listings. Our sourcing/recruiting department uses it. It gives us the opportunity to share our job openings, and attract talent within an hour (or less)! ZipRecruiter has been a source for us over the past several years. However, we are seeing an increase in quality over quantity, which is definitely a step in the right direction. We have successfully found candidates that have amazing experience and are actively searching. I really like the features that allow us to see who is actively on the job market so we can contact active job seekers right away.
  • Job postings.
  • Sourcing resumes.
  • Screening candidates.
  • Better screening tools for candidates who apply to open jobs.
  • Auto-screeners that can be conducted via recorded phone call.
  • Option for candidates to identify when they are open to relocating.
  • Messaging features- would be nice to have a template included in direct messaging.
It should be a part of your job board portfolio! Once an option, now would recommend as a key piece.

ZipRecruiter is well suited for businesses of any size, who post jobs with entry-level and/or general skillsets. This would include an administrative assistant, customer service professional, or data entry associate. For roles like these, you can expect at least 50 applications, with the opportunity to collect resumes from all backgrounds. ZipRecruiter is not the best suited for highly specialized roles. We find that other job boards have a more robust pipeline of candidates, who, with specialized skillsets, tend to post their resumes. This may include a specialized Marketing professional, IT developer, etc.

  • We have hired some fantastic candidates through ZipRecruiter. Our ROI, in that case, was a quality hire for our clients.
  • We have spent (in the past, especially) a lot of time sorting through resumes of candidates that were unqualified. The negative impact here was the loss of time sorting and responding to unqualified applicants.
  • We use their sourcing tool frequently to search for candidates with specific keywords. Over the years the search parameters have expanded, and it has allowed us to hone on in specific skills a bit easier.
The great thing about ZipRecruiter is that you have access to all of the archived roles and can see candidate activity per each job posting. What has helped with this feature, is that we are able to search for candidates, see their history and often times consider other candidates for other job postings that we later post. This is fluid when we use ZipRecruiter as a main source for our job roles. It has impacted us positively.
We have use the Proactive Outreach when we post the next jobs, and it helps us to identify job seekers that may be a fit for the role. This allows us to save some time to get connected to quality talent that we may not have known about otherwise. We have also relied on ZipRecruiter's job description templates to get started with roles that we have to post that we don't have templates for.
We think that ZipRecruiter should be a part of the job board portfolio. To be clear not all roles are best for ZipRecruiter, and so we monitor closely how long we have each position posted for, the number of applicants, and the quality of applicants. However, we rely on other job boards for consistency in sourcing for all roles. That being said, ZipRecruiter's quality has improved and we will continue o use it as an option.

We had used ZipRecruiter in the past, and it has grown progressively over the years to support our ongoing staffing needs.
We would not change anything.
We have had to reach out to ZipRecruiter's support on many occasions. At one time, we were over-billed for one of their subscriptions. Not only did the billing get adjusted quickly, but we also got a chance to test out one of their perks for free. The account executives are helpful and friendly.
No. We are fairly comfortable with what we use ZipREcruiter for and have not had many tech issues.
We were interested in expanding our job posting slots, and got connected to a very knowledge sales rep who walked us through what made sense for our business size and current needs at the time. It was very helpful to identify so that we knew how to scale correctly when we were ready.
Easy to use, great UI

I loaded a European Automotive Technician Professional job onto Zip Recruiter and the results of the applicants were line cooks from McDonald's, Painters, Chicken House Workers, etc. ZERO applicants with European automotive experience - or regular automotive experience. I immediately within 24 hours contacted Zip Recruiter who told me to duplicate my ad in other cities, which I did. A month later I had 3 applicants who had the experiences listed above and a bill from ZipRecruiter for $780. Absurd! Never will I ever recommend this company. A gentleman called me about 2 weeks AFTER I stopped the ads and told me he thinks there is a much better way to sign up for a plan to help me. I was taken aback because, why wouldn't you call me and tell me this from the get-go instead of waiting until you bill me nearly $800? Poor service. They want money and are not interested in actually helping you find a qualified candidate. This service may work if you don't need educated and skilled staff but it's not an appropriate resource for someone looking for a specific skill set.
  • Charge you a LOT of Money and COLLECT money from you
  • Call you when you cancel your jobs to offer a way to collect more money
  • Get you candidates that have nothing to do with your listed job
  • Provide qualified candidates! That would be cool!
  • Provide feedback on best plans BEFORE you pay in big money and cancel them subsequently
  • Close their ripoff business model and save business owners the headache
This company is unable to provide qualified candidates. They sent me painters, line cooks from restaurants, excavation workers, garage door installers, shipping and receiving workers, etc. I did not receive ONE qualified candidate. NOT ONE. At the 24 hour mark, I called to advise I could look in the resumes and find candidates but their information was NOT provided to me to contact them. Instead, they have to be matched. But the Zip Recruiter system does not match qualified candidates to your jobs. I was told to add keywords but when she looked at the job she said they were all there. So she then told me to add my job to other cities, which I did then do. THEN I spoke to a gentleman who said he would have the 'boost' removed from the account - but that never happened either. This company cannot source skilled jobs. If you need professional skills - this is NOT the place to find an employee.
  • Well, I would like to find professional team members - but ZipRecruiter failed at accomplishing that
  • They are a liability and high risk on my P&L - they provide ZERO return on the investment. ZERO ZILCH ZIP and that should be their tag line. ZERO ZILCH ZIP QUALIFIED Recruits will apply!
  • They spend all that money I paid them sending out mailers to all my peer business owners making false promises and it's a joke!
Indeed was expensive BUT I got results - so that's where I'll go back. Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah watch me walk away!

Indeed - mistake on my part.
None of these. I was looking for an alternative option that maybe would find some technicians. Instead, I found line cooks and garage door workers and painters and dirt movers. How about we let them work on your Mercedes and see how happy you are with the results?
I would never have used Zip at all.

Maybe that lady that told me to post jobs in other areas but fat lot it did for me.
Because it takes my money without supplying ANY USABLE result. That's theft everywhere else.
  • This system sucks
  • Obtaining qualified candidates is hard
because they did not provide qualified candidates so they cannot be relied upon to do what they say they do
big fat zip zilch nada crappy ball of unwanted ear wax
