What is Banyon Data Utility Billing Software?

Banyon Data Systems was founded 1981, offering program developed, sold and supported was a Basic Utility Billing program that operated on an Apple II. Presently, Banyon Data has 22 Windows-based business office programs for municipalities, public libraries, water districts, sewer districts, non-profit organizations, etc. Core products include Fund Accounting, Payroll, Utility Billing, Fixed Assets, Workflow Management, Permits, Special Assessment Management, Cemetery Management, Licensing, and other time saving modules. Some add-on modules include meter device interfaces for automated meter readers, direct payment (ACH), direct deposit (checks), email notifications for check stubs and utility bills, delinquency notices, penalty notifications (email or paper), laser scan payment stubs, payroll retirement plans (deposits and required reporting), W-2’s, 941’s, etc.

Banyon Data’s home office is located in the Minneapolis-St. Paul (Twin Cities) area one block off of Interstate 35. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Central Time, Monday through Thursday and 8:00-4:30 on Friday.

A typical Banyon Data customer is a municipal government, water or sewer district, electric or gas service provider, and public libraries. Their software operates in a PC environment on network or remote SaaS platforms. The company states they currently have over 2000 installations nationwide, most of which are using some type of networking or remote use method of data entry, editing and reporting.

Banyon Data offers unlimited, toll-free phone and online connect support, with an annual support fee. They state that today, their online support is the most popular, and that they use Glance.net to achieve this support technique.

Their Website https://www.banyon.com is used for video instruction, dissemination of important update information, product introductions and downloading software updates.

Conversions, Training and Support

Banyon Data also provides for data conversions for new customers. The details of the conversions and which programs to be converted are up to the customer, as long as the data to be converted is in a format that can be used and has file layout descriptions.

Training sessions normally consist of online training structured to the client’s needs, or they can provide onsite training. The implementation schedule is developed between Banyon Data and the customer.

Once purchased, Banyon Data states they normally will send the software immediately to the customer’s requested location where they can contact Banyon Data for installation or have an internal IT support team install the software.

They further state they do not rely on impersonal automated messaging services but rather strives to answer each call and provide quick and knowledgeable responses. Their support team can be reached by phone at (800) 229-1130, emailed at support@banyon.com or through Website support link to office support staff.

Finally, Banyon Data states they recognize that many of the best product enhancement ideas come from customers, and if the enhancement is beneficial to new or existing customers, it will be done at the expense of the company. Custom programming for individual customers that is unique to their installation is billable.
