What is Huawei Cloud Document Database Service (DDS)?
Document Database Service (DDS) is a MongoDB-compatible document database, which according to Huawei provides the following benefits:
Ease of Use
On the DDS management console, the user can create, scale, back up, and restore DB instances, and view the CPU usage, disk usage, and IOPS in real time. With the Data Admin Service (DAS), DB instances can be managed from a web-based console.
Scalability
Change CPU, memory, and storage specifications to scale DDS instances up or down. Increase or reduce the number of mongos or shard nodes to scale them in or out. In-the-moment requirements can be fully addressed without modifying any code.
Security
DDS instances run in VPCs, to keep document databases isolated on its secure network. Data in databases is also encrypted to protect against interception or data leaks. The user can configure fine-grained permissions and security groups to control access to document databases, and also configure DDoS protection to defend against online attacks. Audit logs can be stored for up to two years for traceback purposes.
Reliability
DDS instances can be deployed in clusters or replica sets, in a single AZ or across AZs, to ensure high availability for document databases. DDS continuously monitors the health of document database nodes. If any primary node fails, DDS will automatically promote the secondary node to take over the services. A combination of automated and manual backup enable point-in-time recovery for your clusters.
