I found OPUS EHR to be a great product. While the price is very competitive, it has customizable features other companies charge an arm and a leg for. They also have an AI tool for clinical notes that can take your therapists note taking talent to the next level. Personally, my two favorite features are the ability to see documentation completion in real time on a dashboard, so we never fall behind for oversight purposes/credentialing, or insurance authorizations. My second favorite feature is the built in quality outcomes measurement. This has helped our marketing department show real time results of our services to potential clients, as well as data for insurance companies to see that our treatment works. This helps with our ability to negotiate rates/increases.

The downside to Opus is the typical one. It's hard to give up on an old system that doesn't serve you well. And even though it's super easy to use, it can be intimidating or overwhelming at first. I almost found myself reluctant to adopt the product because it has so many features I thought I would get "lost". Transitioning from any system to a new EHR, or coming from paper can be scary, and can have some negative impacts initially.. But it's worth the investment in the long run.
  • Ease of Use
  • Costs are obvious and transparent
  • Expanded Features not included in most EHR
  • Artificial Intelligence tools speed up clinical documentation
  • Organization for Directors/Supervisors
  • A "fair" contract (no scary, hidden stipulations
  • Their initial walk through/demo - It's overwhelming
  • Not everyone will know how to use it right away like other larger EHR's. There is a small learning curve
  • Not great for single therapists, best for small-medium-medium large facilities
As I said before, I couldn't see a lot of the features being good for someone who just runs their own single private practice (just themselves). The biggest feature for me is the ability to "oversee" all documentation as it's completed, and to be able to make sure we are "covered" in every area that documentation serves.
  • Quality outcomes measurement for insurance rate increases
  • Therapists that are great with clients, are also now great with documentation (AI tool)
  • I don't have to "hunt" through documentation to make sure everything is completed on time.
  • I don't have to explain a bunch of hidden costs to our executive team.
I just felt it was a good balance of being "down to earth" but extremely capable. It seemed like a product designed from the ground up, from people who have actually dealt with the challenges of using technology within a facility, rather than from a computer expert who tried to learn about our application and apply typical solutions that don't work as well as they thought.
