What is Things?

Things is a personal task management application designed to help individuals plan their day, manage projects, and make progress towards their goals. It caters to professionals, students, freelancers, entrepreneurs, and creative professionals who aim to enhance their productivity and effectively manage their tasks. According to Cultured Code, the vendor of Things, it is suitable for professionals in various fields such as business, finance, marketing, consulting, and project management, as well as students and educators. It is also valuable for creative professionals like designers, writers, and artists, and individuals in any industry or profession seeking to improve their productivity and task management.

Key Features

Time-based reminders: Users can set time-based reminders for important tasks to ensure they are not forgotten or missed. Reminders can be added while scheduling a to-do using the Jump Start feature or by typing natural language inputs. Users can also set reminders by speaking to Siri on their iPhone.

All-new design: Things has been completely rebuilt with a new design that focuses on usability and aesthetics. The new design aims to provide a pleasant user experience with smooth interactions and animations. It emphasizes clarity, simplicity, and structured content, allowing users to focus on their tasks and priorities.

Beautiful to-dos: Things offers distraction-free to-dos that are designed to be clear and clutter-free. When a to-do is opened, it provides a clean and minimalistic space for users to add their tasks and notes. Additional details such as tags, checklists, start dates, and deadlines are neatly organized and easily accessible.

Today and This Evening: The Today list serves as a central hub for daily activities, displaying calendar events alongside to-dos. Calendar events are grouped at the top of the list, providing a concise overview of the day's schedule. This Evening allows users to separate to-dos that are specifically planned for later in the day.

Upcoming: The Upcoming list helps users plan their week ahead by displaying scheduled to-dos, repeating tasks, deadlines, and calendar events. It provides a comprehensive view of upcoming commitments and allows users to prioritize and reschedule tasks as needed.

Headings: Users can create headings to organize their tasks and projects into logical sections. Headings provide a clear structure and hierarchy, allowing users to break down larger projects into smaller manageable parts. Rearranging headings and associated tasks is easy through drag-and-drop functionality.

Checklists: Things allows users to create checklists within tasks, enabling them to break down complex tasks into smaller subtasks. Checklists are useful for step-by-step processes, shopping lists, or any situation that requires a list of items to be completed.

Magic Plus: The Magic Plus button enhances the user experience by providing quick and versatile options for creating tasks. With a single tap, users can create new tasks, insert them at specific locations, or even create headings. The Magic Plus button offers flexibility and efficiency in task creation and organization.

Quick Find: Quick Find enables users to search and locate specific tasks or information within the app quickly. By swiping down and typing, users can instantly find relevant tasks, narrowing down the results as they continue typing. Quick Find also supports tag-based filtering for efficient task retrieval.

Jump Start: The Jump Start feature streamlines task scheduling by providing convenient options to add tasks to Today, This Evening, set reminders, schedule for a later date, or mark tasks as Someday. Users can leverage natural language recognition to quickly set dates and deadlines by typing phrases like "Wed 8pm" or "in four days".
