Overall Satisfaction with Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service)
We use Amazon S3 to store files, long term, and short term, from our servers and to share files for various purposes: sending to clients, serving files over the internet on our sites, etc. It acts as our central location for files we serve over the internet.
- Ability to have files switched over to long term storage after inactivity.
- Backups of files available if a loss occurs.
- Access to files as needed from multiple points and availability.
- Region availability all over the globe.
- Easier API integration and better documentation.
- Being able to quickly access AWS S3 from our AWS EC2 instances saved us a lot of time and headache and proved cost-effective as well.
AWS S3 isn't really comparable to AWS EC2 since they are typically separate services that are to be used together and don't do the same things. They do work well together though.
