Overall Satisfaction with Dollar Universe Workload Automation (formerly CA Automic Dollar Universe)
Like many other companies, we use Dollar Universe Workload Automation to automate cross-OS/platform job scheduling and to replace a lot of old legacy crontab-based tasks that only can run on the Linux environments. The tasks being managed by Dollar Universe Workload Automation span across many domains, from the backlog transaction process, environment periodically clean up till some data pattern scanning. It has become the corporate standard platform, enabling a lot of opportunities for integration and automation. Jenkins: majorly the CI/CD pipeline-related batch work. In-house built Java solutions based on Spring Batch: aiming for Java native in-house developed functions/services automation. Crontab based pre-scheduled tasks on Linux: majorly dealing with the old legacy scripts and wiring the 3rd party solutions to form a kind of "scheduled workflow."
- The multiple OS and platform support of $Universe is wonderful.
- It is easy to configure and reliable, the performance is also good.
- It provides centralized explorer and management UI, making the monitoring and maintenance much easier.
- Maybe UI can be further improved to be more intuitive and user friendly.
- Easy to migrate from the legacy job scheduling environments.
- Monitoring and problem identification is improved significantly.
- Reports reveals more insight into of IT daily reality.
