Overall Satisfaction with Google Cloud Storage
We use Google Cloud Storage for managing static assets across numerous projects and initiatives within the organization. We tend to use Google Cloud Storage as our base storage layer when working with other products in the Google Cloud family, like App Engine. Our use of Google's Cloud Storage product mimics how we use other cloud storage products, like Amazon S3.
- Very large infrastructure network run by a leader in cloud computing.
- UX is solid and has a lot of overlap with other Google products.
- Support, if necessary, is helpful.
- Storage rates are very expensive compared to other vendors.
- Download bandwidth costs are among the most expensive.
- Support is expensive, depending on the kind of plan you have.
- Google Cloud Storage provides an easy way to manage files that interact with other Google services.
- Google's reputation for reliability means we are not likely to spend time wondering about what happens during downtime.
We tend to only select Google Cloud Storage when we're using other Google products as it makes integration easier -- but we tend not to choose it for situations where we can use a competing offering from Azure or AWS. We tend to implement the most Azure and AWS by far, and these products are not unique enough that they drive the buying decision by themselves.
