Overall Satisfaction with MS SharePoint / SQL
SharePoint is basically a collaboration platform for teams to connect, collaborate and work by sharing data pertaining to their work/project. In my case, it is being used across the organization. In most cases, it is used by a group of people for team collaboration. Some of them are using it for storing data, some are using this platform to create applications for business applications. Like, for example, the HR team can use a SharePoint site to store details about the upcoming programs, recruitment, etc; a business team can use it for storing business proposals, meeting contents, souvenirs, etc. So it has multiple uses for hosting content and the supporting tools to make it a solution.
- Collaboration
- Security
- Automation
- User-friendly
- Quick enablement platfrom
- Search
- Customization
- Number of items limit
- No direct integration to other systems
- It is one central location for our confidential data when stored on-premises for our data privacy.
- It is our repository for reference data, ...[large] in size with all search and retrieval mechanisms to reduce our data archival efforts.
- It is a rapid development platform as well. When it is compared with .NET Framework, it is very fast to build and implement.
- Box and Microsoft Exchange
Box is a content storing portal where you can host and share documents/files to others. But it does not have [Sharepoint's] capabilities like... versions, automation, email approvals, etc. And Microsoft Exchange is a mailing database that can be used for exchanging data using emails, but SharePoint does much more than that in terms of single central level storing and sharing of data.
