Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Data Integrator
It is being used in an organization that provides an online assessment platform, for which I work as a freelancer. Based on the unique E-LT architecture, the need for an ETL server sitting between the source and target server gets removed. Elimination of ETL server and ETL engine reduces the maintenance costs and thus reduced learning curve reduce the overall labor costs of the company. According to the current situation, Oracle Data Integrator supports RDBMSs such as Oracle, Sybase IQ, and Exadata.
- It supports all platforms, hardware and OSs with the same software.
- It utilizes the source and target server to perform complex transformations without the need of ETL server sitting between source and target server which makes architecture more simple and efficient.
- Data Connectivity is very good as it supports all RDBMSs.
- When you develop on ODI studio, you need to restart the program as it occupies a lot of RAM.
- It is not meant for real time data integration.
- It is hard to maintain the security setup.
- It is quite an expensive product.
- It has allowed us to move metadata more efficiently.
- It can be used to integrate data on different platforms and for different purposes.
ODI is best suited for Oracle Hyperion environments. We have also used it to manage files on different operating systems.
