Overall Satisfaction with Planful
We use Planful for FP&A and annual budgeting, across several entities as well as functions. In my role as Head of HR, I use the Workforce Planning module for budgeting of sensitive figures (employee compensation), the top line of which rolls up to the budget but the detailed particulars remain confidential.
- Customization
- Export to Excel
- Supports multiple user input, internal and external
- Complexity and detail of functionalities (UI and UX) are not intuitive
- Platform training resources for users are poor
- In-platform collaboration not intuitive
- Direct input from all budget owners, resulting in more accurate forecasting
- Easier real-time comparison budget to actuals
- Somewhat easier forecasting
Planful has allowed me to communicate sensitive employee data (compensation) to the finance department for FP&A purposes, while ensuring the detailed line items of said data remain confidential.
The Finance team may have a different response, but from a workforce planning perspective Planful is not a huge value-add. There are other compensation platforms that offer built-in benchmarking, tracking of total comp (inclusive of equity and benefits), and similar levels of internal confidentiality, while also allowing employees to visualize their own financial outlook in the company.
