Overall Satisfaction with Planview ProjectPlace

I have been in my current role for 6 months. Over my career I have used many CRMs and Project Management tools, but this was my first experience with Planview ProjectPlace. I was shocked how easily I was able to get up and running. This tool is quite intuitive and easily facilitates collaboration with my team. We use it to manage all of our projects within one Kanban, as our document repository, and we use the white board for quick and easy brainstorming. I think an area for opportunity for this tool is around automation. It is quite restrictive and for some applications this could be limiting.
  • Collaboration
  • Card creation from an outlook email
  • Simple to use
  • Integrated with other more comprehensive tools, for us, Planview Portfolios
  • Allow for custom automations
  • A community forum that isn't behind a password wall
  • This has made our team significantly more efficient.
Notion is an open book that allows you to create whatever you want... nice but having some bumpers makes creating and implementing a solution a bit easier. ProjectPlace is simple to get started and use. You might miss out on a cool feature or two, but I think the lack of a barrier to start working makes it way better for most companies over notion.

Jira and Trello are connecting and both have things that are good and bad. Trello is most like ProjectPlace, in my experience. Since ProjectPlace can be connected to portfolios it greatly exceeds the capabilities of these two.

Microsoft products are great because they are so interconnected. At my company we use most of the microsoft suite, but the dark side of having so many tools that are all so open is that everyone will do their work and documenting their own way. It making attempting to govern your group next to impossible, and it creates a huge learning curve for anyone joining your team. Out ProjectPlace and Portfolios applications are connect to Power BI, SharePoint, and Outlook so we get the best of both worlds.
