Drake Tax is a tax practice management software solution with features that help users prepare and process customers’ returns. Its scheduler enables users to manage schedules and appointments, and a front office mode is available for staff who manage appointments but don’t need access to the full Drake Tax program.
Proconnect is pretty comparable to Drake Tax. I opt to use Drake tax because it is more affordable, both online and desktop, has better customer support, and it is not another Intuit product.

Drake fits for firms that have fairly straight forward returns and relatively few returns. You get what you pay for, but for some, it can be the perfect fit
I find it to be relatively intuitive. You have multiple entry modes. There are some import tools that I like, in particular for new clients with a lot of fixed assets. I do wish there were some other import availability, for example it would be nice if I could import shareholder or partner information in bulk. The billing feature, in my opinion, is lacking. It is not super flexible and I cannot get it to match my method of billing so it is more of a guideline to help me bill through QBO instead of using the included bill. Rolling over data from year to year is super simple, and this is not just the client information, but also software settings. That saves me setup time every year when installing the new software.

Turbo Tax is okay for individuals or for someone doing just a few smaller returns. For complexity or larger practices, I think this tool makes no sense. It is very much part of the Intuit ecosystem and not ideal for any major complexity or larger volume of client tax returns.
