TrustRadius California Notice at Collection

This California Notice at Collection (“Notice”) applies solely to California residents and supplements our Privacy Policy with additional information about TrustRadius’ (“we,” “us,” “our”) collection and use of personal information about California residents in connection with trustradius.com (our “Site”) and our other services (collectively, “Services”). This Notice does not apply to personal information handled in our capacity as a “service provider” to our customers, as such term is defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”).


Categories of Information Collected

In connection with our Services, we collect:

  • Identifiers, such as your name, address, phone number, and email address, and social media profile information;
  • Professional or employment information, such as employer names, titles, work addresses, industry, job type, department, and expertise;
  • Audio and visual information, such as your profile photo and recordings of calls or meetings;
  • Commercial information, such as your ratings and reviews of products and services and your other interactions with us;;
  • Internet or other electronic network activity information, such as your IP address, cookie information, device identifiers, browser characteristics, operating system details, language preference, and browsing information; and
  • Inferences drawn from any of the above;

Purposes of Use

We may use personal information about you:

  • To provide our Services.
  • To communicate with you about your use of our Services, to respond to your inquiries, to fulfill your orders, and for other customer service purposes, which may include communicating with you via email.
  • To tailor the content and information that we may send or display to you, personalized help and instructions, and to otherwise personalize your experiences while using the Site or our Services.
  • For customer loyalty programs.
  • For marketing and promotional purposes to send you news, newsletters, or marketing materials about TrustRadius products or services that may interest you, or special offers (such as incentives for reviewing products or services you’ve used) from us or from companies listed on our Site. We also may use the information that we learn about you to assist us in advertising our Services in various forums, including on third party websites, on social media sites, among other means.
  • To better understand how users access and use our Site and Services, both on an aggregated and individualized basis, to improve our Site and Services and respond to user desires and preferences, and for other research and analytical purposes.
  • To address legal requirements.
  • To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, violations of our Terms of Service, or other illegal activities, or to otherwise establish, exercise, or defend our legal rights.

Retention

We keep your information until we determine it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it is processed as set forth in this Notice and we are not legally required to retain it for longer. We may collect and use the same category of personal information for different purposes and in different contexts, so the length of time for which we retain a particular category of personal information may vary. For example, information may remain in copies made for backup or business continuity longer than in production systems.

Our specific retention practices may vary by jurisdiction. For example, the chart below lists the categories of personal information we collected about California residents in the last twelve months, along with examples of how long we typically would intend to retain those types of personal information in the particular situations described below. However, these are not necessarily the only retention periods applicable to California personal information, and information about residents of other states and countries may be handled differently.

Internet or other electronic network activity information, such as IP address, cookie information, device identifiers, browser characteristics, operating system details, language preference, and browsing information.We retain logs associated with account logins from California IP addresses on our own Site for several years for account authentication, fraud detection, and other security purposes. Retention periods for other information in this category vary.
Inferences drawn from any of the aboveWe typically retain inferences for the same period of time for which we retain the underlying information.

As part of a few of our uses and disclosures of personal information, during the 12 months leading up to the effective date of this Notice, we “sold” and “shared” (as those terms are narrowly defined under the CCPA) California residents’ internet or electronic network activity (like an IP address and record of a browser’s visit to our Site) and identifiers (like names and email addresses) to marketing and advertising services to assist with such activities, and to our customers, to assist with their marketing and advertising. This practice continues today.
