Checkmk vs. eG Enterprise

As we have many different applications running on different servers, we appreciate the possibility of writing our own scripts to monitor the different processes and elements. Using scripts of our choice helps us a lot, as we have many different administrators. Thus, we are able to be prepared for upcoming outages or events.

Product is excellent for Technologies monitoring
like Citrix, SAP, VMware, Oracle, Nutanix and 0365.

• Provides extensive visibility beyond the performance of apps and the entire infrastructure.
• The excellent diagnostic capacities allow us to drill down issues and find their root cause.
• Good APM capabilities.

• eG Enterprise supports only traditional Deployment Architecture on Desktop, Windows server and Linux server
• Could be Improve in Integration like accepting data from different monitoring tools and perform the data analytics like deduplication correlation etc…
• I am sure the product is excellent for Technologies monitoring like Citrix, SAP, VMware, Oracle, Nutanix and 0365, Competitive licensing can defiantly give edge

Very helpful software and I highly recommend to have on hand as a tool for testing, troubleshooting, and monitoring.

After knowing the architecture it is very easy to manage the system, rolling out agents and creating new monitoring tasks.

We moved over to Checkmk from Nagios which felt like a natural evolution at the time as the raw version is based on Nagios, I vaguely not having any major issues moving over at the time. We still use the Raw version but we are planning to move to the enterprise version in the next 6 – 12 months as our needs expand.

Its Lacking Synthetic monitoring of VDI user
transactions and also doesn’t comprehensively monitor the technologies like SharePoint, SAP, Exchange etc...
