datapine

For someone like me, who had no real experience in using BI tools before, datapine suits quite well. Most of the features I was able to explore on my own, and their support was always really helpful (as well as the tutorials). In general, I was most impressed from their dashboard features. If you look for a software with detailed statistical analysis options, you maybe need to take another (additional) tool. My main use-case was the visualization and reporting of the analysis results, not the statistical analysis itself. This usually was done before with SPSS.

Mathematica

Mathematica is very useful in calculus problem. It deals greatly with mathematical operations such as differentiation, integration, matrix multiplication and so on. Simple data analysis is very easy using Mathematica. Mathematica has great functions for plotting and charting the data.It has some good features included in Machine Learning model. But there are many functions that can be included in Mathematica for better improvements. So, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence will be easier in Mathematica.

Pros

datapine

  • Intuitive user interface, especially within the analyzer (drag & drop).
  • Dashboard templates helped to create visually appealing dashboards.
  • Many different reporting options.
  • Customer support is really helpful.

Mathematica

  • It allows straightforward integration of analytic analysis of algebraic expressions and their numerical implemented.
  • Supports varying programmatic paradigms, so one can choose what best fits the problem or task: pure functions, procedural programming, list processing, and even (with a bit of setup) object-oriented programming.
  • The extensive and rich tools for graphical rendering make it very easy to not just get 2D and 3D renderings of final output, but also to do quick-and-dirty 2D and 3D rendering of intermediate results and/or debugging results.

Cons

datapine

  • Some advanced functions need SQL knowledge.

Mathematica

  • Not a fault as such, but there are instances of simple problems where Wolfram Alpha can be used more easily instead.

Wolfram Mathematica is a nice software package. It has very nice features and easy to install and use in your machine. Besides this, there is a nice support from Wolfram. They come to the university frequently to give seminars in Mathematica. I think this is the best thing they are doing. That is very helpful for graduate and undergraduate students who are using Mathematica in their research.

Mathematica

We have evaluated and are using in some cases the Python language in concert with the Jupyter notebook interface. For UI, we using libraries like React to create visually stunning visualizations of such models.Mathematica compares favorably to this alternative in terms of speed of development. Mathematica compares unfavorably to this alternative in terms of license costs.

Return on Investment

datapine

Mathematica

  • Easy to solve huge mathematical equations, so it saved time there
  • Doing analysis and plotting graphs is also another plus point
  • Learning is very slow, and it took lot of time to learn its scripting language
