ImageKit.io vs. Publitio

E-Commerce is a perfect example where a service like ImageKit.io, is well suited. It takes a lot of the guesswork related to browser image format support, correct image dimensions for every kind of device, away from the developer. Thus reducing the need for maintaining code ourselves to check for and deliver an image for every user and his specific browser. This reduces code maintenance time in the long run and less custom code will ensure stability after integration for our online store running on OpenCart 3.

Publitio works great for serving media of almost all kinds. Although we don't use this, Publitio has a transform-by-url feature that allows website managers to serve different image sizes and formats by changing the url. If you need reliable image, video, and audio hosting, Publitio is a solid choice. The service is less well developed for document content such as DOCX files.

The main consideration for our choice was to be able to optimize and deliver the images from the server they are stored on without needing to move or change the current product upload workflow for our Marketing team. We were able to find great pricing on Publitio. Even though Publitio is not particularly streamlined, it is still a little less technical than S3 for non-developer users. Publitio is both managed (unlike AWS and Vultr) and competitively priced--and it offers content management features that may be key for some folks
