Kibana vs. Logi Report

Kibana is indeed a powerful tool and has many use cases especially in environments that rely heavily on real-time log analysis and visualisation. Kibana’s ability to handle large volumes of log data and present it in an accessible, searchable format is invaluable. We use Kibana to monitor security related issues and it proactively alerts our Slack channels about any anomality or issues.

JReport is well suited to enterprise-wide deployment such as we deliver in our data warehouse solution JOHO OneSource(TM). It provides for a seamless end-user experience to enterprise-wide corporate data, maintain user-level security regardless of location or device used. Reporting elements are always "business-friendly", reducing confusion for the less sophisticated information consumer. Since JReport is highly scalable, it is hard to imagine a deployment where it would not be well suited. The only case I can think of is possibly one where there are limited or no reporting staff onsite to create report elements.

• Some performance issues with large datasets.
• Linking to dashboards makes extremely long urls.

• Initially, the product lacked some features but their support team reacted quickly to meet our needs.
• The JReport desktop designer looks a bit dated, however, the Web GUI looks very modern.

Its usability is generally good and it provides teams with a basic to intermediate understanding about data visualization. It is very user-friendly when it comes to creating dashboards. The UI is very good and simple. Its integration with other tools for alerting and reporting is amazing. But its advance features have a learning curve and a first timer needs some time to use the advance features.

We did not use the official Kibana support. Documentation was easy enough to follow.

We have been using Logi Report for many years. We did review Microsoft PowerBI recently and are currently considering if it will meet our needs. We are still evaluating at the moment.

• Issues that affect checkout experiences for customers are able to be prioritized and solved quickly.
• We are able to more efficiently use resources due to the automation of reporting alerts. Decreasing employee resources needed.
• Visualization allows us to quickly share issues and explain to coworkers in order to escalate issues that can cost our bottom line.

• Create reports in various formats
• Would like to see a longer listing of reports per screen on the scheduler in JReport Server/Admin Console as we have a lot of reports we run.
