Lexis is well-suited to locating case documents, especially trial court documents in state courts, that are otherwise hard to find elsewhere. The system is way more efficient than searching individual state court dockets. So it improves my efficiency.

Using Lexis for Microsoft Office in our office was a game changer. We were previously using another form generation program, and it was glitchy, operated exclusively on our server which caused lag, and it took a lot of time to edit the forms for any changes. Lexis for Microsoft Office streamlined everything and because it is cloud-based, it operates smoothly and efficiently. The interface is extremely user-friendly, and we've noticed that producing forms are way more efficient now.

    • Searches using plain language and anything other than specific keywords can be refined.
    • Summaries of cases and documents can be sharper.
    • The user interface is hideous.

    Usability

I think it is very usable. I do wish that the AI was better and I could rely on it more. Often, I find that Claude does a better job of getting case law research than Protoge does. But for basic case searches, research, and investigation, I find that it is easy to use

Lexis has the history that iWave does not. Plus it has the legal search. The business search is better in terms of News (iWave doesn't have one), but iWave does a better job of aggregating more useful sites. Also, iWave has philanthropic gifts, which is useful to us. We actually use both and would make a stink if we had to choose

HotDocs was very inefficient, not as user-friendly, had a more convoluted interface, and it took a lot of time to go back and edit previously drafted documents.
