OpenLM for Engineering Licensing vs. Vyapin Management Suite

OpenLM can simplify the reporting of complex licenses with multiple toolboxes or products on one server. It covers most of our license server types, but not all. The academic version is reasonably priced (e.g. for educational institutions) giving 90% of the features, however setting it up on-premise was more complex than our original pilot would suggest. We couldn't do without it now.

Best use scenarios are:- Easy migration function of the Vyapin Office 365 Export- Migrate and Manage Office 365 mailbox and folder permissions - Office 365 User Provisioning and Deprovisioning – Assign, Remove & Recycle O365 User licenses effectively - Automation: Office 365 Management without using PowerShell -Security overview of user permissions, memberships and Onedrive.

• Peak concurrent license use for any period of time, often less than expected, saves unnecessary over purchase.
• Denials of license, can quickly see where a license is not working, say, after an upgrade.
• Comparison of license utilisation (% when near the limit).
• Quick check of expiring licenses.

• Manage User and Group properties in Bulk in Azure AD
• Automated reports for all actions performed using the application
• Ability to create email accounts, business skype and assign security to Office 365 accounts.

• You can share a link to a dynamic report (e.g. the last 365 days). The URL is very long but it can be used with a 3rd party short URL utility and shared with users.
• Upgrading to the latest version took a long time to troubleshoot, which left a short gap in the saved data.

• Although already good enough, more UI improvements with help would make the suite even better
• Some performance issues during migrations

X-Formation, OpenIT, JTB, Sassafras either more expensive for the particular task of managing and monitoring concurrent licenses, or they had a different set of features (such as Sassafras K2/Keyserver also for remote access)

The selection was done by the client after a competetive price offer. There are many other alternatives in the market for Vyapin Office 365 Management Suite like Datto's offerings however ease of use, speed, and general User Interface was the reeason I prefered it over the other competitors. Price and other agreements usually play an important role when selecting these options

• The academic version has paid for itself handsomely, including our setup costs. The ongoing strategic information saves costs.

• Unified and standardized accounts with security policies assigned according to the group to which the user belongs.
• Smooth and easy migration
