OVH Dedicated Servers vs. SCloud UHost

I think the only reason not to look at OVH Dedicated Servers is if you need something with higher resilience. It's important to remember that these are a single physical server and thus have the same risks of outage as if you deploy a single physical server anywhere else. Most VPS solutions (whether OVH or elsewhere) have all the failover and HA abstracted from you and so offer less administrative overhead. However in terms of the amount of compute, storage and RAM you can get for your dollar, you can't beat the value proposition of OVH, and coupled with that they will repair the hardware if it fails, your task is simply to ensure you've take appropriate backup steps, and understand your RTO and RPO and architect accordingly. If you can withstand a period of downtime, then a single dedicated server will go a long way!

• Security options are pretty basic, we must use SOAR software alongside to secure the servers.

Everything has been thought of - from the initial password secure portal, through to day to day management, you can do everything from the console easily. Remote KVM is on hand for those awful moments (if you have them - and we all have) where the server won't boot for some reason

OVH Dedicated Servers are a different product so a direct comparison is difficult. In simple terms, both provide compute, memory and storage. However the EC2 instances offer significantly more in the way of resiliency in the event of a single hardware failure. However this comes at a price, and there is no way you could get 18TB of RAID5 style storage on HDD from a Public Cloud provider for the price of an OVH Dedicated Server

Both Azure and Oracle offer some sort of lock in, either by the initial discounts or software. What is truly locked in are our data and we really thought carefully from day one as we are a corporate. Even in thinking of going multi-cloud, we are afraid of big vendors like them. We came across SCloud UHost in an event and proceeded to try and never regretted onwards. Good job to the SCloud UHost team and their management for such great products at competitive prices.

• Quite affordable, with plans costing barely 100 dollars per month.
