Proton Mail vs. ShareBase (discontinued)

Good if you like privacy and not having your data mined for advertizing and AI training.

Sometimes, there are professors and teachers that need to share with other people of the same department certain information to help them to improve their classes or just to communicate something that might be easily uploaded there than in other platforms or software. Also, it can help people of different departments to be aware of the contents that students are seeing constantly in classes.

• Secure encrypted email hosting
• Connection with Outlook works well
• Works well on all platforms: web, Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS
• Low monthly cost for email plus all the associated apps

• It has a great capacity.
• Allows you to collaborate and share with others.
• Take care of privacy.

• Exporting email (which I like to do for archiving) is awkward and slow.
• Proton Mail Bridge (which allows access from other email readers like Outlook) sometimes has synchronization issues. Lately these just resolve themselves.

Mostly intuitive and easy to use. A bit harder if you stick with two passwords (one for the account and one for the encryption).

Proton had a wider offering of products like vpn and drive. I ended up paying for a yearly subscription, I liked it so much.

I think that there is important to understand that there are some software or platforms that more than stacking up between them, complement each other to have a great diversity of tools and instruments for creating and presenting information in different ways. In this case, ShareBase is completely different than most of these pages and that makes it a valuable tool.
