Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Cisco UCS provides us the best lowest latency as compared to traditional infrastructure it integrates our physical and virtual network in a single infrastructure solution by reducing EXIs required for switching purposes, It distributes the network traffic load on our EXIs by distinguishing their requirements i.e. based on security types and usage of interface and Nevertheless is saves our consumption of energy as well.

Pros

  • Easy Installation, Migration and At A Glance Resource Monitoring
  • Enhanced Server Virtualization and Systems Integration
  • Reduction Of Bare Metal Servers
  • Network Load Distribution

Cons

  • Increased Throughput
  • Lack Of Integration

Likelihood to Recommend

Ideal for datacenters that requires to transmit real time transfer, easily scalable and supports extreme virtualization but it depends what kind of serve node is required it works optimal for all solutions, with inbuilt network, power supply and cooling management it saves numerous resources like human intervention and power consumption.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have in our datacenter some Cisco UCS servers in a rack in a scenario where they are used to implement virtual machines from different systems / services of the company. Services such as switch management software, wireless, telephony and other Active Directory services, printing and files. They are equipment with high performance, robustness and reliability. Cisco UCS VICs implement VM-FEX which helps us to unify the virtual logical network with the physical network structured in a single control and management structure.

Pros

  • Ports 10/40 / 100Gbps or FCoE.
  • Support up to 256 Virtual Express devices.
  • Highly scalable and easy to control.
  • Centralized and unified management.
  • Virtualization of VIC adapters

Cons

  • High product price and warranty service.
  • Official product documentation can be improved.

Likelihood to Recommend

With Cisco UCS VICs we are able to manage the data center more efficiently and better. We have unified LAN and SAN in a flexible and simplified management and also facility to scale more units as needed. VICs are excellent adapters with high performance 10Gbps and 40Gbps ports that integrate physical servers and VMs into a single management.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As tools for Wi-Fi and communication. This is used throughout the whole organization. It assists when there are issues with any communication services. During the time of the pandemic, CISCO was able to allow for a faster service in my home (where it was set up due to teleworking) and still maintain the authenticity of the program.

Pros

  • communication barriers
  • wi-fi barriers

Cons

  • often times restarts without prompt

Likelihood to Recommend

This system has been quite efficient in times such as the snow storm. This allowed and assisted with issues I was having during this time. There are also several people in my home teleworking/schooling where CISCO is not the platform they utilize and I can see the difference, not only in program but operating.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Currently use the content-based management to automate and accelerate deployment of all internal applications, that include virtualization and cloud computing infrastructure through VMWare and Microsoft 0365. , scale-out and bare-metal workloads, and in-memory analytics for real time decision making. We also use it for edge computing that supports multiple remote and branch locations.

Pros

  • Its flexibility allows convergence of multiple stacks of technology to exchange data
  • The ease and speed of deploying new applications
  • The central management of policies through automation allows an easier workflow

Cons

  • somewhat pricey
  • not as intuitive as some UCS

Likelihood to Recommend

When applications need real time data and user input driven application the Cisco UCS is ideal due to its tight integration that allows the easy and ready deployment of containers for rapid application development, testing and deployment. The system is very salable allowing components to be added as needed with minimal interruption of existing applications and services.

UCS VIC's Provide Extra Value in Virtualized Environments

Rating: 10 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use UCS VICs primarily within our UCS B-Series computing environment. They are used primarily for ESXi servers running within VxBlock or FlexPods within the environment. A tertiary use is for bare metal servers.

The UCS VICs enable us to logically segregate traffic to different network interfaces depending on security requirements for the workloads, and provide different QoS depending on the usage of the interface.

Pros

  • Decoupled Networking.
  • Network Segregation.
  • Network Virtualization.
  • Converged Networking (FC).

Cons

  • Standalone Hosts (not connected to UCSM).
  • Increased Throughput.
  • Formfactor (UCS C-Series).

Likelihood to Recommend

UCS VIC's work well in virtualized environments. The network virtualization and segregation they provide help enable security requirements for workloads. The network virtualization allows additional virtual network adapters to be added based on additional requirements such as segregation of management and storage traffic from workloads, or applying different QoS policies at the port level.
