Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Intuit Lacerte provides the tax prep software solution for our firm of 1500+ individual clients and 500+ business returns. It also assists us with tracking the progress of the status of each return in addition to processing the data and calculations of the return, which aids in project management of the tax returns specifically in our office.

Pros

Tracks Return Status
Processes the Data
Manages the e-file and e-signatures within one platform.

Cons

Although Intuit Lacerte offers the option for clients to by by refund, it is limited to 2 banks which means we could have to change banks to offer this service, broadening the banks relationship would assist us greatly.
Although Intuit Lacerte is set up for running reports, they are not as dynamic as they could be, for example, running a report for all clients working for a specific employer, or occupation if we were targeting an audience.

Likelihood to Recommend

Intuit Lacerte in intuitive, engaging, and thorough in its processes, and tech support is always on hand if you get stuck. It has been our go to for 25+ years, and although I have seen other products in action, and discussed other projects with colleagues, it still seems like the best fir for our firm all these years later.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Intuit Lacerte to prepare Individual, partnership, corporate (c and s), estate & trust, and nonprofits Intuit Lacerte preparers more forms than other softwares. Not just fill n print, like some softwares that say they have forms, but the actual calculations. Their support team is the best. Each rep has access to leads who can help in areas they are familiar with. If an issue can’t be resolved then a case is opened to have a more experienced person work on the issue. Intuit cares about its customers and tries really hard to help customers get answers in the least amount of time so we can keep predicting returns.

Filters-needs to be more user friendly and easier to use. Also needs more options to filter by
Missing data email-descriptions need to be client familiar wording not tax term /forms

This software is great for a tax preparer that wants the whole package from organizers to customer returns with letters and invoices. This is the best software with everything combined together. For new tax preparers looking for expensive software and are willing to some items (invoices) organizers, scheduling) through other means, Intuit Lacerte might be too expensive. But once the practice grows the time saved having all the “bells and whistles “ is worth every penny!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Ram Associates is an accounting and Taxation firm, all our CPAs do use several software for preparing taxes for our clients across the US. Out of which Lacerte we use it for elite corp clients. One of the main features is a multi-user facility and batch filing can be processed to e-file extensions for multiple clients at once, avoids too many clicks, point of guidance feature, diagnostics feature is another addon. Signing has been made easy with Lacerte, they have integrated DocuSign. It saves a lot of turnaround time. And it also has K-1 transfer capability, where we can auto-import partnership and S-Corp data into a return. Overall the fast path rates are also not that costly.

Supports more than 5,700 tax forms - federal and all state forms
Year-round e-filing

Cons

The updates from IRS to Lacerte need to be improved, so far so good.
Reporting needs to be improved. Feature like sorting categories. scorp/ind/non-profit
Tax summaries can be improved - like the differentiation between rental income & expenses. I trust this feature would be a great help.

Likelihood to Recommend

Lacerte helps to serve a great variety of clients and businesses, it has over 5,700 forms. It also supports multi-state, K-1s, and more. It suits for power users with high business inflow. Its useful for a CPA who is processing a high value firm or individual with zero errors. The error diagnostic feature covers more than 25k error checks. This is less applicable to CPA's whose are managing regular individual 1040 routines.

Our tax department uses Lacerte to manage our tax return workflow and file tax returns with IRS and other tax authorities. My company primarily prepares Form 990 (exempt orgs) tax returns.

Pros

Very easy to learn and use.
Simple, customized report generation

Technical glitches
Frequent software updates

Likelihood to Recommend

Lacerte is great overall and easy to use for tax return workflow tracking and tax return filing. I wish the report functions were more robust but compared to other software, Lacerte is really great.
