We use Linear to manage sprint tasks, bug tracking, and feature testing. As a QA Engineer I use daily to report bugs, verify fixes and track issues progress. it keeps whole product team and development team aligned and improves visibility of work which help us to deliver the sprint work on time.

Pros

Creating issue and tracking it is very simple.
Search and filters are very quick
Developers can link gitlab for issues so we can check the MR status over there.
Easy to copy multiple issues ticket id or URL.

Cons

Sometimes the other notifications regarding an issue are irrelevant to me but still i receive it and if I unsubscribe the issue then I wont get any notification
Managing too many tickets is difficult from different teams
Need some sort of dashboard to track QA Progress, tracking bug trends

Likelihood to Recommend

In my opinion Linear works best to create bug tickets, track bug tickets/requirement tickets and sprint bases workflow. As QA i feel very easy to create bug tickets, track status of tickets, verifying fix and collab with devs and product team without losing context for any features talks. For huge team who needs detail reports and dashboard for them Linear won't be best option.

We used it as a main project development management platform. It was used by both the development team as well as the CS team and sales team during the development phase.

Really great system for the money we didn’t have any specific issues while using it and it worked well for our needs

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our company uses Linear as a system of record for all engineering functions. Product uses it for product planning, engineering uses it for bug reports and development, and other teams use it as an interface to work with product and engineering. My team is customer support, so my employees create and track bugs in Linear to provide updates to clients.

Pros

Linear agent.
Quick glance at current status of tickets.
Allow customization to view only the relevant tickets and information for each user.

Cons

The biggest is search. Despite the Linear agent being great, general search rarely pulls the ticket I'm looking for.
Organization - new users find it hard to navigate teams, boards, and inboxes.
Forms need a save/autosave feature, so all data isn't lost if you need to switch screens or collect additional information.

Likelihood to Recommend

Linear is well-suited as an interface for support teams to work with engineering. We use Intercom, and Linear has a direct integration, so updates in a Linear ticket sync to the customer ticket in Intercom. This helps my team stay up to date on issues without constantly monitoring Linear, and, more importantly, it gives them current status insights to share with the client.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to organize our product development into initiatives, projects, and issues. This is critical because there are many features, and we want to assign them to people on the dev team. It also helps us plan out the product roadmap and set target dates.

Pros

Organize issues.
Be a better version of Github.
Do a product roadmap.
See what needs to be done from a calendar point of view.

Cons

Notifications sometimes are buggy.
Being able to find the most important information quicker.
more prominent calendar view.

It's great for a product development team that wants to organize its work without using Jira. As a product manager, it is perfect for seeing where all your teams currently stand in terms of projects and output. I would not use it if I were working on my own side project where there's only one or two people.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

All teams use Linear to track project progress and collaborate on issues. Not only does Linear help individual teams stay on the same page, it's a way for our fully remote team to easily get status updates at a glance without having to have meetings or asking someone. Now, with Linear AI tools the support team can even query our codebase to write better support tickets for dev to pick up rather than having dev do all the work.

Pros

Connect to codebase and give guidance on how to write SQL queries without dev support, how a feature should work, and if something is expected or a bug
Integrations with our other tools (Slack, Fin, Github, etc.)
Search for other related Linears or otherwise query for additional context in other Projects that we may need for our own work

Cons

Recently there have been some service disruptions but they are quick to identify and fix and notify folks on their status page
The Fin / Linear integration could be more robust - more granular control over when conversations reopen based on a Linear status (sometimes Fin snoozing overrides this)
There can always be better improvements to Linear's auto-draft functionality to bring in more context from our database, external tools, etc

Likelihood to Recommend

It's great for teams to use to get async updates, but does require that teams actually keep things updated. But thankfully there are more and more automations to help with that. I think Linear would be great for all kinds of team sizes but I have most experience with using Linear for teams under 50.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We log our dev, marketing and some CS tickets into Linear and group them into projects with milestones and tags. It helps us stay on top of things we need to deliver, while not being overwhelmed by the amount of work.

Another great help comes from being able to use Linear with Claude Code. No we don't even have to spend time manually creating projects and tickets, when a project plan is drafted, the agent is dispatched to create a project and needed tickets. Additionally, we have it connected to our Slack, so we can call Linear bot to create a ticket from any thread or conversation, which removed the hassle of ticket creation yet with everyone still being assigned tickets they can work on effortlessly.

at times I miss seeing what was edited in the ticket

I was tasked with developing a workflow that will monitor and act on the changing user health. While I was developing it, getting lost in endless strings and variables, I was able to ask our agent to create the needed tickets on Linear for me. I did not have to waste time doing this ticket logging process manually.

We use Linear to manage the roadmap, dev and design tasks and support cases. All of our projects and their details are on Linear.
It helps to manage all the tasks in one place. Dev, Design and QA teams collaborate on Linear. As a product manager, I use Linear to overlook the progress of the sprint, create tasks and projects and create support requests from Intercom if they need the help of the engineering team

Linear is missing documentation features like Jira Confluence. We can use Notion but it would have been great if Linear offered more comprehensive solution
Eventhough we can manage releases with projects, it is hard to manage them when there are multiple projects being released at the same time. The initiatives feature kind of handles this but if we can assign tasks to a release that would be awesome
Being able to invite guests without costing extra money. Platforms like Clickup allow you to invite a limited no of guests without costing extra money.
Linear is not good if you are software services company and want to manage multiple client projects. Linear is built for product teams.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are a product based company, Linear is the most powerful fine-tuned platform. Their methodology really works well. It's fast, got nice UI/UX, feels modern, ability to manage projects, love how they show comments as a thread, the integrations like Figma works really well

But if you are a software service company and have multiple client projects, it is hard to manage that in Linear plus you would have to pay for guests if you are inviting client stakeholders to overlook progress.
