Solid product for multi-cloud visibility, security, and compliance control

Pros

  • Inventory discovery
  • Detecting unauthorized changes
  • Configuration drift
  • Infrastructure changes impacting cost
  • Measuring and benchmarking compliance
  • Scoring and reporting of risk
  • Helping our team do more with limited resources

Cons

  • I would like to see more integrations to help surface alerts. Slack would be great, as an example.
  • An imbedded tour or onboarding would help our new users, but overall, the product is pretty easy to figure out

Return on Investment

  • Our team was able to do roughly 30% more with the product. The automation helps us spot issues without a lot of manual work
  • We identified changes that would have had a massive cost impact--spinning up or forgetting about infrastructure we didn't need.
  • OpsCompass prevents configuration drift and maintains a healthy state across multi-clouds.

Alternatives Considered

Puppet Remediate, Chef Compliance and AWS Config

Game-changer for our DevOps team

Pros

  • Quick inventory of all my cloud resources
  • Detects changes to my cloud resources--including the source of the changes (user or system)
  • Cost impacts of changes to my cloud infrastructure

Cons

  • I don't use the CIS compliance features yet--I'd like to try those.
  • Currently, OpsCompass is a scan-only tool. I'd like OpsCompass to be able to prevent some types of resource changes--it would be a big help with handling potential security concerns.

Return on Investment

  • Team Efficiency--We've delayed hiring one additional ops person, thanks to OpsCompass.
  • Intercepting Unexpected AWS Costs--We see all resource changes and can prevent the ones that cause unexpected cost increases.
