Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst IE3300 Rugged Series Switches

We do have a need to have catalyst switches in a environment that gets hot, doesn't have the best type of cooling like outdoors during parking lots for security cameras and all these things that we use. So this has really solved a lot of the issues we have with overheating devices and stuff. So if they stay cooler, they're meant to, they can withstand harsher conditions, dryer conditions.

Pros

  • they do well in harsh conditions and low cooling too.

Cons

  • I can't necessarily say for these type of devices they're doing what we expect them to do. So I'm not sure that I'm seeing a con at the moment.
  • I'd say positive impact
I'm not using Cisco DNA center for these yet.
Yes, we do use like to segment it is important for many reasons, but we do like to segment. For instance, for this product, we like to keep our security cameras and other stuff separate like users, but these are mainly used for segmentation and security cameras.
We did like the ability to be able to expand the ports, but there were some downsides to that because the racking in the space can be an issue if you don't have that ahead of time.

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst IE3300 Rugged Series Switches go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst IE3300 Rugged Series Switches again?

No

I would only use or recommend these products if we were to be deploying them in similar scenarios in environments where you don't want to have to worry about overheating issues or conditions where more standard switches or devices are not going to sit well. But yeah, I wouldn't use them for a data center or any other environments, but they're mainly suited for that and access switches.
