Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series Switches

we use the Cisco Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series Switches in harsh environmental conditions, it solved our business need by ensuring that we can use both SDA and extend our 802.1x wired network for both Wired and Wireless clients into challenging areas where cooling and other environmental conditions arent suitable for a traditional catalyst 9300 series network switch

its slightly frustrating that even the AC power supplies which are using normal power ranges, still require a licensed electrician to complete the first time connections, and that the power modules are hot swappable from the rear, so ensuring front and rear access is a must for long term servicing of the unit. Other than those draw backs the Cisco Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series Switches is fantastic and integrates into our SDA fabric
I would rate the IE9300 higher than the IE3300 where space permits for a full size switch installation and where PoE requirements are higher.

The IE3300 has its place in networks for works like SCADA systems and lower PoE Draw
The IE9300 is a more full fledged switch, where the installation environmentals are just too harsh for a normal Cisco Catalyst 9300

the Cisco Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series Switches is well suited for environments where the conditions are not suitable for a traditional network switch, this could be the power (DC) or could be the cooling or humidity in the space. These would be less suitable in a traditional network cabinet as the pricing is higher compared to a normal switch The Cisco Catalyst IE9300 Rugged Series Switches also has direct wired power supplies, so while hot-swappable, requires licensed electricians to make the first connections
