Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst IR1100 Rugged Series Routers

The Cisco Catalyst IR1101 Rugged Series Router is being used for a transport sector program, where form factor, need for a ruggedized and versatile product is key. It's replacing an alternate vendor's EoL solution. Versatility has been a key consideration, as has a cost-effective solution. The IR1101 allows us to deploy this single device to multiple site types and reduce build and operational complexity.
  • Ruggedized, small form factor
  • Multiple power options
  • Scalable
  • Too early in our program deployment to determine improvements, none at this point in time.
  • Form factor
  • Ruggedised nature
  • Commonality for deployment across different site types
  • Future scaling opportunities
  • Cost effective
  • No requirement for a future forklift upgrade in the site types we're installing the IR1101 into.
  • Operational benefits, managing the same device, single type spares holding etc.

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst IR1100 Rugged Series Routers go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst IR1100 Rugged Series Routers again?

Yes

Suited to harsher environments where temperature extremes are common (street furniture). Where space and power constraints may exist (e.g., where dc supplies are preferred). Not ideally suited to standard building deployments, rack mounting options not particularly ideal, and the form factor means it's going to be higher than 1RU of space, etc. External AC PSUs also add overhead to a more traditional installation scenario.
