Cisco SD-WAN Review
Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN
We deploy it in all of our offices basically to create this Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN environment. So we get our circuits, we set up Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN, all of our offices are connected. Failover works, it's a pretty good product.
Pros
- The failover mechanism is great between the two circuits. We load balance between the gold and silver circuits. As you know, ISPs go down all the time, so the failover definitely keeps us up. We keep our SLAs for all of our end users and it's great.
Cons
- The interfaces could definitely be a little bit more intuitive for people who don't understand what they're looking at. If you have a level one help desk, things like that, it gets real confusing for them real quick and they typically need to escalate higher to figure out, get time to resolution and things like that.
- For a positive impact, I'd say it's definitely enhanced our uptime in our offices. We have offices all over the world, things in Miami, they get hit by a hurricane, one circuit goes down, but the offices is still able to function, so definitely has kept our uptime up.
We've used the old Cisco SD-WAN, which no longer exists. It was a lot more complex to configure what is now called Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN. So they've definitely come a long way in that it is a lot less complicated to set up and template based.
