Overall Satisfaction with Cisco SD-WAN

So basically, what we do is we use it for our customers who are experiencing slow WAN or just having issues. So we kind of go in and upgrade their network and we normally will do SD-WAN so that way they have less drops, more reliability and can kind of have some more policy routing implemented to help with their applications.
  • I think that some of the things that it does pretty well is of course the zero touch configurations that makes deployments a lot easier where you can have somebody not quite as qualified to actually rack the device. As long as they just cable it correctly your zero touch provisioning will get everything set up for you. So I think that it does that really well, especially compared to other vendors that I've worked with.
  • I would say with the OSS just because there's been a lot of bugs that have been affected. Now I know some of this is not Cisco's fault, but some of this Cisco has put out bugs, just some of the customers haven't upgraded. But I'd say with the OSS is just trying to get that a little figured out better.
So I've used Versa and I've used Silver Peak. And to be honest I originally started off loving Versa more than Cisco, as far as the SD-WAN, just because it seemed like they were more developed. Of course they were focused solely on SD-WAN, so I think they were developed a lot quicker. But Cisco has caught up, between their iteration and with the Meraki iteration of SD-WAN.

Do you think Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN again?

Yes

I'd say it's well suited, especially in a customer's environment who already has Cisco and they're familiar with Cisco. I'd say there are some customers who aren't familiar or don't have that much Cisco. And in those scenarios, that's where I would kind of wouldn't recommend Cisco and recommend another vendor. But I think for the most part, for most customers I would recommend Cisco.
