Overall Satisfaction with dbForge SQL Complete

Was purchased to ensure consistent formatting of code, allowing developers to have their personal style, and a consistent CICD style. Currently used on a single project.

Pros

  • CICD
  • Allows developers to work with their style of coding.

Cons

  • Old dated product, not handling modern structures.
  • Limited formatting options.
  • No interest from vendor in making improvements.
  • Code formatting.
  • Command line option.
  • It's had zero impact on productivity.
SQL Complete appeared to do what was required. It has a very short evaluation period. We still have our day jobs to do, and hence can not dedicate the time necessary to understand and work with the product. You get bombarded by the salespeople (until they get your money!) who will offer 50% discounts, but only if you sign up promptly. The reality is that for our purposes the product has turned out to be a fail.

We have raised issues with Devart but they appear to have no interest in maintaining bread & butter functionality. Guess they are focused on the next bright shiny ball in the room, and not the day-to-day stuff that most teams have to deal with. Upgrades cause activation errors, the company blames the customers.

      For others that read their reply, it's noting but a smoke screen tricking you into believing that they care. I have already contacted 'support', and got nothing back, other than a generic 'we will add it to the list'. No details on any kind of priority, or time frame to address the issues raised.
