Overall Satisfaction with Dell EMC Unity
The Dell EMC Unity is being used as a network-attached storage file server that hosts file sharing for the bulk of our employees. Prior to Unity, the file shares were hosted on a physical server running Windows OS. We needed a system that could do exactly what the file data between two data storage servers connected to a computer network providing data access to a heterogeneous group of clients.
Pros
- Carbon copy of the Data used In the storage system.
- Convenient to use.
- Available for one to use whenever or however one wishes.
Cons
- Refurbished data obtained takes a lot of time to complete.
- The replica of stored data cannot be accessible.
- By simplifying expectations for the device, we were able to size it accordingly.
- Say goodbye to Unity as a future product and move to Nimble or Pure to meet the same needs.
- Many of the EMC Unity environments were left unused as it costs a lot.
I was instructed to buy these arrays, but I was not given the opportunity to evaluate other arrays. We evaluated other products in the market that competed with Unity and found that the younger array built from scratch had far better features, software, and ease of use. The Unity system has a unique way of storing the data when compared with other systems.
