Overall Satisfaction with IBM Apptio

We leverage Apptio to show value from our tech spend and show back to the business the cost of the services we provide.

Pros

  • ease of data ingestion, can accept from many kinds of sources
  • data transformation, it's easy to clean the data. it doesn't require a highly technical team.
  • visibility into how the data is modeled and how the allocation is built

Cons

  • native integration to source systems could be improved. currently the connector functionality is limited, and some like servicenow, should support pagination but presently they do not.
non data people can load data and be successful with this product.
  • This is having a positive impact on our software rationalization strategy.
we leverage the API ingestion directly from source. this is helpful because we don't currently have a centralized repository for data so we were able to quickly get online without needing to build data pipelines.

Apptio is well suited to organizations who do not have visibility into their tech cost or limited visibility. Not the most suited for organizations that already have sophisticated cost modeling. also good for organizations that need a tool to help them clean and model the raw financial data. non data people can be successful with this product.
