Overall Satisfaction with IBM Guardium

We use Guardium as part of a regulatory product to monitor privileged accounts. The SOC team is the primary end user. I have been facing issues with DB2 11.9 and Guardium 11.5 recently, as we have an encrypted connection. ATAP configuration is not supported anymore, and IBM support recommends using DB2-exit. However, this option is still not part of our installation standard.

Pros

  • Traffic capture.
  • Support all DBMS.
  • Flexible policy creation.

Cons

  • There is a compatibility issue between MySQL and Guardium, and the SSL connection should be disabled to capture traffic. This is not a good point.
  • lot of update related to certificates.
  • Same comment about speed of support cases.
No doubt that monitoring the privileged accounts is necessary. Also, policy flexibility along of reporting build feature.

I guess support can be more proactive, especially since Guardium is considered a regulatory requirement, and case resolution should be faster.
