IBM Guardium Review
Overall Satisfaction with IBM Guardium
We use it for database monitoring to protect customer data effectively, like structured data on our mainframes. We have IBM mainframes.
Pros
- I mean it protects the customer data quite effectively. It provides a broad range of use cases in and outside of cybersecurity. It's not just looking at the attack vectors of people trying to breach the databases. We also look at the integrity of the data as well.
Cons
- I think if there was one thing I would pick out, its database monitoring is very noisy for the SOC operation so I think IBM could do more to help organizations really filter out the things that don't matter quite so much and focus on the things that do.
- I'm not sure that it's had a negative return on investment. I suppose what we could do better at is driving the adoption of it more holistically across the organization. Not everything needs database monitoring, so obviously the focus has to be on your important business services and making sure it works properly.
I personally, because in cyber I find the elements where there could be look for those behavioral problems indicator a cyber attack rather than being on the economic crime or fraud side of the businesses.
Database monitoring.
Well, like I say, there's a couple out there that do this kind of thing as well. So TRX being one of the ones that do something in this space too. Also very good product. I don't think there's a lot between them to be honest. We have IBM as a partner in my organization so they help us drive that forward.
