insight into state of database and consistency in deploying changes, peer review on db schema changes since its in source code now, and auditable in terms of knowing who approved what changes and knowing that they were tested in uat
Pros
- auto rollback if transaction fail
- checksum on deployed scripts
- ability to undo specific changes
Cons
- we dont want to create the checks settings file and have to store some static file. need to be able to non-interactively customize the check s setting sconfig
- more frequent deployments and clear audit trail of database state
empowers developers and leaves dbas free to do more important things
