Overall Satisfaction with NameScan

In recent years, our University has increasingly become an international environment. Consequently, it becomes increasingly common at the administrative level to verify the identity of those who have to enroll in courses, participate in competitions or discuss Master's or Doctoral theses. Consequently, NameScan helps us to verify the identity of these people.
  • NameScan works well automated and allows information integration in different analysis steps.
  • NameScan works well in integration with other identity verification or plagiarism checker software.
  • It is easy to use, accessible and can be adapted to specific needs.
  • The software still generates confusion, especially in the case of Asian names, often repetitive or similar to each other. In this case, the information it returns is not very accurate.
  • The numerous integrative databases that can be purchased are really very expensive.
  • NameScan is graphically unintuitive.
  • Verify identities and any criminal records.
  • Quick and easy to perform checks against a wide range of sanctions or false identities.
  • In addition to those mentioned, there are no other features of interest to us.
  • It allowed us to limit the admission of non-welcome people to the University.
  • It has allowed us to limit the number of frauds in the context of thesis discussions, especially doctoral ones.
  • NameScan has become fundamental in our university's internalisation to verify, in particular, people arriving from countries at risk.
Based on the information from other university colleagues, it seems that NameScan is a more reliable and complete software than others of the same category. However, as already mentioned in another answer, the software NameScan remains a little weak in verifying the identity of people from states where names are frequently repeated.

Yes

Did NameScan live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy NameScan again?

Yes

In our specific case, NameScan is an interesting piece of software for administratively verifying the identity of those who have to enroll in courses or discuss a Thesis. The fact that NameScan can be integrated with other software (anti-plagiarism, for example, Turnitin) guarantees greater use efficiency. In this case, the integrated verification of identity and possible plagiarism helps us significantly limit fraud.
