Oracle EPM Cloud Decision Factors

It depends on the company we work for and the project itself, but most of the time the management keeps a healthy balance on the expenses about this. I would say roughly ~10% of the time of all IT workers is paid to improve their own working environment: implement new, fancier tools, change to more modern solutions, extend their knowledge, learn new stuff. Technologies like this, with a bigger impact on our life is evaluated separatly by the company's leadership and it might even take a bigger amount of resources if we think it will worth it.
Honestly I do not know about much how the exact process went, but as an Oracle partner company in our region, it was quite obvious we will try to implement using this and change our infrastructure to it after a certain point. As an IT company, it was a very big decision, that was affecting nearly every department (maybe developers did not feel that much of an impact). We did not involve any outside help, and the final decison was made by the technical leadership of our company.
  • New business needs/initiatives
The less platform-specific knowledge is needed couse of different vendors, is the better. Also, most of the time, we re-sell these technologies or support them at our clients, and not just knowing these things from the books but from experience, is also vital. As on Oracle partner company, it is essential, that we can support and adverties Oracle solutions for the said systems (if the said tool is good enough! which is , thanks for the high quality of the tools of this company).
How important it is to have the exact tool that I need, not just a hammer for everything? :) This is quite obvious, especially on bigger companies or where IT has a more critical role to play. Industry-specific software enables users to focus more on the industry, and less on the software which is made to support it.
