Overall Satisfaction with Oracle EPM Cloud

Being used by our Corporate FP&A department for Strategic Modeling and Budgeting.
  • It mimics HSF, but doesn't require the infrastructure or upgrades that HSF does.
  • Currently there is a big functionality gap, in that iterations of models cannot be saved off unless scripts are written to do this. Oracle has promised Direct Migration functionality will be available in their May release.
We are utilizing FCCS for our consolidation and close.
We are not utilizing reporting as of yet.
It was a great "first cloud project" for our organization.
  • No real impact as of yet...pretty much mimics what we had in HSF.
EPBCS is excellent for Strategic Modeling.

Oracle EPM Cloud Decision Factors

About a 70/30 split between grow/run...any new initiatives are evaluated on business value.
Quite honestly, Oracle Cloud was the natural progression out of HFM and HSF. There was a fair amount of involvement from our Procurement area in the negotiations with Oracle, but ultimately it was the call of our App Dev leadership to go with Oracle Cloud EPM.
  • Avoiding an on-premise upgrade
  • Avoiding the need for infrastructure/overhead
It's not overly important...as a matter of fact, it can be a deterrent because if you're experiencing frustration with a vendor, say, in the EPM space, that frustration will be exponentially multiplied if you're using the same vendor for ERP, HCM, etc.
Not important at all...Oracle Cloud EPM is not industry-specific anyway.

Adoption, and Customer Service

Support from our implementation partner is a 10/10, but support from Oracle is awful. Case in point: recently over a 2-day period, there were a series of intermittent outages. Oracle actually asked US for the outage time-stamps. I would have thought that, since we were paying them, they should probably be able to tell us!
The product generally works fine, but the powers-that-be aren't sold at all on Oracle as a partner.
