Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform

Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is used to do configuration Management of VMware, RHEL, and dell servers. State management is also done via the system, using partner provided plugins and collections.

Pros

  • Easy to read
  • Automation
  • Connection

Cons

  • The connection between different collections, community.windows is a wrapper for ansible.windows and that is not always clear
  • IF you aren't using ssh, making sure connections like dells open manage don't get confused like they can with gather_Facts
  • It's good, makes things easy and allows a Jr person to do complex tasks
  • Enforces the same configuration with variables allowed
Usually it is easy ntil you get into some of the weirder collections like doing direct connections to Dell iDracs. Then you have to start doing specific edits to your config to make it compatible.
Puppet is more constant state management for us than Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform is a more one off configuration then we transfer over to a pupper configuration for steady state.

System setup is useful, also state management. It is not just used for windows systems, it can be used for Cisco and other networking gear as well. IF there is galaxy made for what you are doing, its very easy. If you go off the normal path the difficulty ramps up.
