We use it as one of our app supporting platforms (Resque & Rails).
- Caching done in redid gives good performance gains, almost like a memory store.
It has been reliable especially for our main use case as a queue backend (using Resque). It's really fast and stable.

Yes, instead of worrying about memory management, we use Redis for quick storage and retrieval, and persistence across server restarts (we use Heroku, so there isn't persistent storage built-in).
