Overall Satisfaction with SAP Integrated Business Planning
We use SAP Integrated Business Planning for Demand Planning and long term supply planning. For Demand Planning, SAP Integrated Business Planning has allowed us to greatly improve our WFA due to the addition of statistical models available and the ability to drive consistency in processes across multiple business units. Long term supply planning has allowed us to extend our supply planning horizon out 24 months to enable better capacity planning and has allowed our S&OP timeline to extend 24 months, instead of previously being 12-18. This improvement has improved our strategic decision making.
Pros
- User interface is better - looks and feels like Excel to users
- Allows strategic capacity planning out 24 months
- Ability to do scenario planning within the model
- Ability to maintain unconstrained and constrained demand plans
Cons
- lifecycle management table is challenging
- struggled with getting graphs usable for S&OP type meetings from system
- need to limit data in data pulls to get results
- WFA improvements
- standardized processes around inventory optimization
- ability to drive scenario and contingency planning in S&OP
- Scalability
- Integration with Other Systems
- Ease of Use
Scalability was probably the more important in our decision. We have all business units Globally using SAP Integrated Business Planning. For those that were using APO in the past, we had to maintain multiple planning areas and have long running batch jobs. The ability to have Global planners in one planning area allows a more simple process and allows for easier Global rollups of data.
