TIBCO Cloud Spotfire

Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Spotfire

To my knowledge, it is only being used by individuals. I personally use it to visualize high-parameter data, combining basic science acquired data and clinical parameters.

Pros

  • Quickly plot data with large numbers of variables.
  • Visualize data using colors, symbols, size—all of which can be allocated to change with a given variable.
  • Intuitive plot axis to easily visualize data,

Cons

  • Re-arrangement of bars in a bar chart where a plot hierarchy has been established (at the moment you can only sort A>Z or Z>A).
  • Option to turn plots into grayscale.
  • More scientific plots of data (e.g. individual dots of a group of data with a median line—similar to that of GraphPad Prism, the standard for scientific publications).
As previously mentioned, Prism has some plots that can't be replicated in Spotfire.
  • Self-taught
Previous training was given by another user, so I probably have an understanding of 20% of the capabilities of the software
It struggles in the scientific world to compete with the publication-ready graphs produced by GraphPad Prism, as this software is more suited to scientific data. However, it is far easier to make multiple scatter plots using the trellis function which is a unique application.
