Overall Satisfaction with XenDesktop

We use XenDesktop as a global solution for our company's users to access resources in several different regions. It allows our users to work closer to where their applications and data are opposed to trying to access those resources directly from their endpoint device.
  • Flexibility to find the best configuration for your company's needs.
  • Good options/tools for managing the environment.
  • Suite of products that support XenDesktop like Storefront and NetScaler.
  • Well established company in Citrix that has been developing this technology for over 20 years.
  • While you can present multiple global sites in one pane of glass to users, from an administrative standpoint they must be managed separately.
  • XenDesktop is more complex than previous Citrix products (XenApp).
  • Faster turn around when on-boarding new users.
  • Faster and simpler application updates or upgrades.
  • Some initial difficulty for user's change in workflow and administrative/help desk understanding when coming from a legacy workstation environment.
XenDesktop is a much more mature product. Better suite of products to support various workflows.
XenDesktop is well suited for reducing latency. When you have applications and data in one location and have users in another this is one of the best products for improving their experience. It's also useful for creating a security boundary around your apps and data. You can secure it at a network level then require your users to connect to the XenDesktop environment to access that information.
